Oᑎ YOᑌᖇ ᗰOOᑎTIᗰE?

Don’t let low energy, moodiness and cramping steer you away from loving this sacred time of your moonthly moonstrual cycle. When hormones are balanced and our body has the right nutrients and minerals, we wont feel pain or exhaustion when our moontime comes. My wish is for you to enjoy this phase of your cycle, as your bleeding phase can be a powerful time for tuning into your intuition and receiving messages for where to place your energy the month ahead.

Here are four powerful foods to eat to replenish your Body-Temple during your bleed to keep you energized, free of extreme cramping, bloating and heavy bleeding, and to brighten your mood!

I am currently in Bali, and exploring all the exquisite restaurants and warungs while eating for my hormones in the four seasons of my menstrual cycle. Here’s what I have been eating:

ᑎOᖇI ᔕᕼEETᔕ

Nori is rich in: calcium (10x more than milk!), iron, potassium, selenium, zinc, and iodine, making this a superfood to replenish minerals lost during the shedding of your uterine lining.

Mineral deficiency is extremely common is western societies as our gut permeability has been compromised by digestive stress from: food allergens like gluten in wheat and processed sugar, regular alcohol consumption, and chronic use of pharmaceuticals like anti-depressants and birth control contraceptive. All these mentioned effect the lining of our intestinal tract and can overtime, make nutrients difficult to absorb, causing leaky gut and mineral depletion.

Minerals are building blocks of hormones and mineral deficiency can impact the thyroid, causing low thyroid hormone in Hypothyroidsm, as well as low progesterone levels, leading to Estrogen Dominance.

Consuming seaweeds a few times a week can add an abundance of minerals back to the body!

ᔕᑭIᖇᑌᒪIᑎᗩ

This green algae is rich in: iron and antioxidants which increase energy during your bleed if you are fatigued.

In this delectable Sol Bowl from @seedsoflifebali Cafe, the spirulina is fresh! I have only consumed powdered spirulina, so this was a ᗪIᐯIᑎE TᖇEᗩT for my inner foodie… moist, cold and the best spirulina I have tasted.

ᗷEETᔕ

These red roots are rich in: Folate (B9), which builds healthy, oxygen-rich blood to help absorb iron. Beets also serve as  a blood purifier and liver support… and anytime the liver receives love, it can do its job in clearing out excess estrogen levels to prevent Estrogen Dominance issues like cramping, breast pain and heavy bleeds. They also help to reduce bloating!

I requested these shredded beets on top of my bowl, as my bleed is coming soon… oh so soon!!

ᒪEᗩᖴY GᖇEEᑎᔕ

Collards, kale, romaine, spinach, arugula, red and green leaf lettuce, escarole, dandelion, microgreens, and beet greens are rich in EVERYthing!

We are looking at high levels of vitamin C, the B-vitamins, and minerals like: magnesium, iron, and calcium, chromium. They balance blood sugar levels, provide energy, and support the adrenals. Plus, B-vitamins brighten up your mood so you don’t feel the depth of those blues that might come wit your moontime. #yesandmoreplease
